Good Afternoon Everyone:
First of all, thanks to your generous participation we had a terrific response to last Sunday’s Care and Share Toy & Food Drive. Here’s what you did: you gave over 8,500 pounds of food and toys. You gave enough food to impact 400 families during the holidays. You also provided so many toys that Second Mile Mission tells us that 90% of the toys they will give away this Christmas will come from your generosity last Sunday. Bottom line, you made a ton of good things possible and I thank you for it! Grant Wright and his team of volunteers were fantastic in how they organized your donations. Thanks so much!
Tonight in our UPLIFT service we plan to talk about the very serious business of fighting for joy, to almost quote C.S. Lewis. In our world, the only way we will experience joy is to fight for it in spite of something that wants to diminish it.
That’s not to say that lamenting and mourning do not have their place. They do. But the reasons for lamenting do not cancel the reasons we also have to rejoice. God is the most joyful person I know and He invites us to experience and express “the joy of the Lord.”
Are you willing to fight for your right to have joy? That’s the topic of our UPLIFT service tonight and I hope to see you.
