This Sunday, December 2, we’re kicking off this year’s Christmas Series which is called Journey Home for Christmas. We have four thematic emphases over four consecutive weeks and they are as follows: Hope; Love; Joy; Peace.
This Sunday we’ll focus on hope and our Scriptural text is 1 Corinthians 15:1-20 which is such a rich, rich section of Scripture. Do you know the gospel? Do you know what the gospel is? The gospel is the good news message of salvation in Jesus Christ and the cornerstone of the gospel message is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah which ushers in the dawning of a new day full of new possibilities for us all. The gospel is the wonderful story of God inviting you into a relationship with Him.
The gospel is full of hope and we need it. Christian hope is not wishful dreaming, but it is the energizing belief that something wonderful is coming because God says so. And, quite honestly, we need hope. We need to be people of hope because life is difficult. Sometimes it’s difficult in little pesky, nuisance ways and sometimes life is difficult in ways that cut you to the core of your very being.
So, if you want your hope rekindled the first step to take is to be in an atmosphere where hope will be stimulated. Don’t hibernate, but gather with us this Sunday and experience the life, love, hope and community of Jesus Christ. I hope to see you Sunday morning.
Don’t forget that this Sunday evening at 6:00 our Children’s Christmas Musical (Jingle Jam) will be presented in our Worship Center. It will be a fun night with plenty of goodies and munchies as well.
Next Sunday, December 9, is our annual Care & Share Food & Toy Drive benefitting our Fort Bend County friends who may need a little extra help this time of year. Bring a sack of goodies to church and during our service we will collect the sacks. Thanks in advance.
Full of hope,
